Checkered Scarf

€ 79,00 inc. VAT

Knitted in a semi-coarse gauge on my flat-bed STOLL machine. The scarf is based on a 1×1 rib so the appearance looks the same on both sides (double faced). The advantage of knitting with a rib structure opossed to a plain knit (a.k.a “single jersey”) base is that in general it has no tendency to curl at the edges of your scarf. To elevate the design more I’ve added an “inlay” to create a color-patterned check.

Made in:
The Netherlands on my own flatbed knitting machine!

Yarn provenance
From Prato, Italy.

Character of the yarn:
Hairy fiber mix with a soft touch. You will notice a surprising warm glow from the wool when wearing. The feeling best described as a comfortable warm hug.

Anticipate a shrinkage of approx 9% in length after a domestic laundry treatment. To counter this I knitted the scarf much longer than usual.

Uppon arrival:

After domestic wash:
± 205cm (L) x 21 cm (W).

Wool naturally has thermo-regulating and self-cleaning properties. Preferably wash as little as possible. It is often sufficient to simply let your product air out overnight.

Hand-wash with care.
Use an organic wool detergent. Avoid scrubbing and rubbing. Gently squeeze out excess water and dry flat on a rack. Lay down a towel to absorb any drips. If you use the machine to wash your wool, wash cold (30°C or lower) and use a gentle, low spin setting.

Always air dry.
Wool is an incredibly fast-drying fibre. And nothing does the job better than fresh air. Never use the dryer, as the heat can shrink and damage the fibres.

Remove lint and pilling.
Wool is a soft and natural material and as such, regular use may cause lint and pilling to build up. To remove excess lint, gently brush your garments with a pilling comb or a sweater stone.

Fold and store flat.
Avoid hanging your knitwear. The weight of the wool will stretch the garment out of shape. Instead, fold and store flat to keep the shape intact.

The product colours you see on your screen may differ slightly from their true appearance in real life due to variations in monitor and screen settings. I strive to provide accurate colour detail by manually matching Pantone FH&I colour chips with the actual yarns that I receive from the spinners. Make sure to check my journal post about the colour name matching process.
